It’s time for your “Family Discussion About Pornography”! Upward Reach Foundation has gathered together prevention specialists, pornography researchers, and professional curriculum writers to create the first evidenced-based “Pornography Prevention Program.” This prevention curriculum is free and delivered through a series of automated educational cell-texts. It takes three simple steps to prepare your kid to live in our pornified culture. These steps are:
Step 1: Identify and Share Family Definition of Pornography
Objectives: To help parents decide on a definition of pornography. We recommend parents use “Unacceptable” and ”Immodest” to identify the various types of sexual materials. To have parents share the definition with their children.
Step 2: Identify and Share Avoidance Skills
Objectives: To help parents decide on which “Avoidance Skills” to use for each category of sexual material – Unacceptable and Immodest. To have parents share these avoidance skills with their children.
Step 3: Practice and Praise
Objectives: To introduce parents to “Anywhere-Anytime” Learning. To help parents practice “Immodest Avoidance Skills” in anywhere-anytime learning and “Unacceptable Avoidance Skills” in a role-play. To remind parents to praise their children for effort and to share personal values against viewing pornography.
OVERVIEW
It takes about three and a half months to complete the “Family Discussion About Pornography” course. Two weeks are “rest time” (one week between each campaign). During this time, parents will receive about 100 texts. A parent can opt-out at any time by simply replying: STOP
Throughout the campaign, parents are encouraged to do “exercises” in real-time in an “anytime-anywhere” learning environment, rather than scheduled family meetings. A parent needs an estimated one minute per day with their kids to successfully complete course action items.
In addition, faith-based texts are optional and automated. The default campaign is based on prevention science. Parents are encouraged to reply to the curriculum’s texts. A Foundation monitor is available to respond to parents via text. This type of learning has proven to be successful with busy parents.
Kids of all ages will benefit. It’s best if both parents sign-up the same day in order to sync the texts.

MOTHER’s TESTIMONIAL
“Thanks so much for all the texts about talking to your kids about pornography. Honestly, when you sent the text I kind of brushed it off to the side and thought not my kid. But, it’s amazing how easily available it is. Even from simple seemingly harmless YouTube videos. Just tonight my 8-year-old son was watching some funny YouTube videos and he immediately turned it off and walked towards me. When asked what was going on, he told me, “someone was going to take their shirt off or something and I didn’t want to see it.” He said, “you told if I see body parts I’m supposed to turn it off, walk away, and come tell you.” I couldn’t believe it! The time to talk about it is now before it’s too late. Thank you.”
